I figured I'd share my birth stories with you guys. I love reading birth stories, hope you'se enjoy mine.
On the 6th of February (day before my due date) I had a doctors appointment and everything was going perfectly. My little man looked very comfortable where he was so my doctor made an appointment with another doctor the following week to discuss induction (mind you Ky was the only one that was comfortable - his head had become fully engaged 6 weeks before he was born so my pubic bone felt as though it was crushed into a million pieces) Well my little boy was due on the 7th of Feb - the day came and my good friend Renee came over to help me hurry things along, We went for some big long walks and I drank some Raspberry Leaf Tea but nothing happened :( For dinner that evening we decided to have Pizza. After devouring almost half a pizza all to myself I wasn't suprised when I woke at 1 am on the 8th of Feb needing to do a poo. I had gastro - bad, and instead of thinking 'this might be the onset of labour' I was thinking 'Damn I shouldn't have eaten that pizza'. I went back to bed and woke again at 2am with a little cramping period like pain. I thought 'this has to be it' so I woke Ron and told him it had started and that I was going to have a shower. I was in the shower for about 30mins, Ron came in and was wanting details but I wasn't sure it was actually it cause they weren't regular at all. I got out of the shower and he helped me time them and we decided I was about 10 mins apart, we rang the hospital at around 3 am and they said considering it was a first labour I would be in labour for hours and hours yet so just relax and to make myself comfy. My contractions were all over the place - sometimes they were 10 mins apart and then only like 2 mins apart. Ron - considering he had instructions from the hospital to keep me at home as long as possible - was reluctant when I demanded he take me to the hospital at 4 am, but after a few choice words had me there in a flash. When we got to the hospital, the midwife - knowing I had only been in labour for 2 hours - was very rude to me and acted as though I should have stayed at home, reluctantly took me to a birthing suite to be monitored. I could not lay back on the bed for the monitors to go on and she was getting even more annoyed with me so she finally just said 'fine - I'll check how far dilated you are then give you a shot of pethedine' I was all for that as I literally thought the contractions were going to kill me. Unfortunately no drugs were adminsterd as when she checked me his head was already at minus 1, she pushed him back to break my waters and I was given the instruction to push (I didn't get the urge to push - its a hereditary thing) After 8 mins of pushing and only being at the hospital for 20 mins my little boy was born at 4:24am weighing 3048 grams. He was healthy but about 10 days overdue (They got my dates wrong and I didn't know cause I had my first period) He was very dry and peeling and he looked as though he had already had a bath he was so clean. My placenta had already started to deteriorate so lucky I went into spontanious labour because if they had of let me go another 10 days like they planned he would have been stillborn. I needed 6 stitches due to the speedy delivery. When the doctor arrived he said something to the midwife and her reply was 'I went to check how far dilated she was and he near bit me' then he said something else to her and she said 'She bearly gave me time to get my gloves on' It was all pretty funny but that quick labour was way too intense. Due to the speedy delivery I went into shock afterwards.
PS. The midwife did apologise to me later - she said she was thinkingt to herself 'you don't know what labour is yet missy' cause apparently I smiled at her (I don't recall smiling at all. lol)
