Toilet Training Hitch

Submitted by Kylie

"My daughter Jordyn has been toilet training for about 6 months now. She's pretty much got the hang of it now but she doesn't understand the difference between knickers and nappies. When we are home she doesn't wear anything and she also sleeps with just pants on. She refuses to wear a nappy and when I put knickers on her she just uses them as a nappy. Does anyone have any ideas/storys on how I can get her to wear her knickers as its now winter and she cant run around half naked. She also thinks its ok to poo and wee outside on the grass and I have no idea why?"

I'm sorry i cant help but laugh.
My son had the same problems he couldnt tell the difference between the nappy and the undies and i have no real advice excpet hang in there it will pass. Igot to the stage where i would leave him in his wet knickers for a lil while and then he soon realised it doesnt feel very nice, I hope it gets easier for you..

I would always remind my son that he was wearing undies. and show him how it feels different from wearing nappie compared with undies. I used to poke my little ones bum and go! Oh your wearing undies, and ask if he wanted to sit on the toilet / potty.
Hope it all works out for you. (pull ups helped alot, as my son didnt like it when the picture would fade away)
GOOD LUCK!!

I dont have any advice as im staring to put my 18 month old on the potty before her bath... but the whole doing her business on the grass thing... do you have a dog? or a cat? trust me... its AMAZING what they will pick up on!!! She could be copying the animal! or if she has seen a dog do that before!!! Not sure what to suggest for that, but thats where she might have picked it up from!

Also, when Kyla does a wee on her potty we act as tho its the best thing in the world so she does it everytime before her bath now!!! Good luck! Im sure EVERYONE has gone through this sort of thing before!!!
