My toddler may have ADD - but I won't drug him

Submitted by Baxter21

"I've got two boys nearly 4 and 2, and my 2yr old is really full on. He has been seen by the child development team and they suggest that he has adhd. I don't want to drug my son, so as an alternative I thought about fish oil, apparently it does work? I cant find out if Kaden clinically has adhd for another 2yrs. What should I do?"

My sister has a child that is very full on and they suggested to her that he has adhd and she didn't want to drug him either so they told her to cut out anything in his diet with the colour 2 and also not to give him any processed food and nothing with added sugar, this seemed to settle him down alot!!!! Also if your having trouble with his moods (i dont know if he's to young for this but it's worth a try) try making a colour mood chart and by that i mean have certain colours for certain moods and when he is hard to control ask him what colour he is today, if he is bored upset or angry try doing a group activity or maybe going for a walk. Hope all goes well.

I think there are also some good natural medicines

i have a cousin who has ADHD and i found after years of drugs nothing worked so it think the best plan is to put him into a routine and spend some down time with just sitting down and read a book in a park or in a quite place.
i all so found having one on one time were just you or your husband just spend about 1 hour a day with only one child were you and your son have a chat while doing shopping while he puts the shopping into the trolley. you need to make him feel like he has all your time in this period and help and listen to him more.
hope it works out for you

I heard that giving him fresh food and stuff with no additives and preservatives can work wonders - though I suppose at 2 years old he probably doesn't get much of that stuff anyway. I think by implementing a fairly strict routine, he may settle a bit, knowing what the day entails? And massages are supposed to help relax them - obviously he can't be getting massaged all day long, but maybe as a once a day thing? Something he can look forward to?
Sorry, i'm not really much help.

try the changing his diet thing my sisters boy was diagnosed with ADD and would not drug him she had to be really strict with his foods not processed or refined foods no cordials ect. hardly any sugars whatsoever and he couldn't have been a better more well mannered kid now. it may cost a little more to by organic or natural foods but better than drugs.
