Mastitis AFTER you’ve stopped breastfeeding?!
Submitted by Zanabelle

"I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to get mastitis AFTER you've stopped breastfeeding? I stopped feeding Xander the week he turned 1 and it's been 2 1/2 months since then. I know it takes a while for the milk to completely dry up, and I've still got a bit there. 2 days ago my right breast started getting really tender. It's more sore on one side, but there's no redness and no lumps of any kind. Anyone got any ideas??"

Hi Zanabelle,
I got mastitis about 6 months after I stopped breastfeeding Teliah, and I was told the reason for it was because I never kept expressing the milk once a day till all the milk was gone.
If you arent expressing then I suggest you try that, if that doesnt work or you are still expressing then go and see your doctor. Hope this helps a lil.

I think i got it last week and i stopped feeding two weeks prior.... i stopped getting that full feeling and then i didn't bother expressing... then last week i got a really sore breast, i just rubbed the crap out of it, and squeezed it in the shower.... after a few days it went away.. i had no redness or heat either just pain....
