Crying Baby vs the Neighbours
|
Submitted by Joe |

"My baby is 6 months old and we are about to start controlled crying, but I don't know how the neighbours will react to my crying baby. I've never had any trouble with crying before, as I've always picked him up straight away. But I'm going to have to let him cry for 2, then 4, then 6, 8 & up to 10 minutes at a time following the Controlled Crying program that I've chosen. Is there any way to help sound-proof the baby room? Has anyone else had problems like this? What happened?"

Honestly I dont think it is any of the neighbours business if your baby is crying.everyone makes noise.its like when people mow their lawns at 6am on a sunday morning you wouldnt go over and complain its just what happens. And are you really that close that they would hear your baby enough to be annoyed by the crying because if so they can probly hear u talking or watching tv or whatever. I wouldnt worry about it.my next door neighbours have a baby and i couldnt care less when it crys even when its loud .they will get over it its part in parcel of living in suburbia or a apartment complex or whatever.

My neighbours comment to me how they never hear a peep outta my 5 month old daughter and we do controlled crying and she does cry they must never hear her, i guess it depends on exactly how close they are. if you have your own house and the neighbours are across the fence they probally wont hear a thing. and if your really worried about it you could go and explain what you are doin if you think they will be annoyed by it they will probably understand.

Hey Joe, i would not worry about what the neighbours think. if you know them, maybe if you want, tell them they might hear the baby crying. and if your doing controlled crying, it will take a while, but after a week or two your bub will get used to it, same with the neighbours. and if they have a problem with it, stuff them lol... all babies cry. Although i understand how u feel, but i knew a friend that lived on a busy rd and she bought some soft thing to put over her window, and that helped with the noise. It was like soft egg containers. Go and speak to the local hardware store or something. Just remmeber you are controlling your babies crying, not trying to keep them quiet for the neighbours. Good luck xx

I dont think there is any need for sound proofing the room. I am quite close to my neighbours and i have the side screen door open all day and my neighbour says she never hears charlotte her room is also on that side and i dont shut her window when ever she is having a spit.... even if she wont stop crying some times i will just put her in her cot for a few minutes and come back and see if she hasn't hurt herself and eventually she stops going crazy. The neighbours never say "oh we heared charlotte crying, we thought you were pinching her" hahaha sorry, but really dont worry, unless your baby cries for hours, noone will say anything, and if your baby does cry for hours, i think they are trying to tell you something.
