We used to get the same thing... now we keep our 10mo son up in the arvo, he has a mid morning nap and that's it, we also make sure he has dinner as late as possible - as this seems to help him sleep better.... he wakes for a bottle at 6am and then sleeps until about 8-8:30am - hope this can be of some use to you!

Wow, thast a tough one. My only suggestion is that you should see a GP about it, cos that is not healthy for the poor girl (or you and your partner, for that matter). He might be able to identify an allergy or something, as they are known to make children fretful sleepers. It could also be psychological, but in either case, you need professional help. If controlled crying didnt work, it could easily be something other than sleep habits. For other ways to get children to sleep, go to www.babycentre.uk as they have many other techniques to develop good sleeping habits.

How exhausting for you all! My only suggestion is to cut out any afternoon naps like mentioned above - i can't have Bella asleep past about 2 or she won't go to sleep. And she has a big dinner and bottle before bed which makes her tired. If she's extra active we chase her around the house? Sorry, it's a tough one!

thanks for all your advice, my partner and i generally will not let her leep after 1pm, and yet still no sleep, maybe i should have a day outside and try just wearing her down. Does anyone know anything about the medicines involved in helping babies sleep, i don't really want to give her to much medicines but maybe it's the only way untill she gets into a better sleeping pattern!!!?

hey nicky with bray it came down to ignoring him completely in the middle of the night.. i know a lot of ppl will disagree wit me!! but b got the hint now when he wakes up he has a lil chat a sook then puts himself back to sleep!!!!! it probably sounds harsh to ignore.. but ur lil one now has it in her head that its ok to get up at 1 and play coz mummy and daddy get up too!! look its only a suggestion.. i was weary at first too but now i get peace and quiet from about 830pm til 7-8am!! so maybe give it a go??!! as for medicines.. well i dont think u should use them to develop a sleepin habit as my 3 yr old nephew was given phernergan for a few nights.. or maybe more then a few.. but then thought he had to have medicine before bed.. and would not sleep!! so it has a psychological effect as well as physically.. i doubt there is alot of harm in phernergan but it is still a drug and ALL drugs are ADDICTIVE whether they be physically or mentally!! on that note if it means a good nights sleep occasionally when u just cant handle it go for it!! i still do every now and then..
oh and one more thing if u have a baby monitor get rid of it!!! it makes it so much easier to jump out of bed and tend to bubs.. they are poisonous lol i only ever use mine if i am outside now!! i will never use it again for sleeping!! lol hope this all helps!! good luck hope sleep deprevation leaves soon!!

i really would love just to ignore teliah, but she is now in a toddler bed, so she just gets up and wanders out herself. She is in a bed because in the cot she would bash her head against it untill most nights she split her lip or made her nose bleed. Maybe I should put a gate on her door (IDK) Thanks for all your advice
