39 weeks - how do I get bubby out?!

Submitted by Shannon

"I'm 39 weeks on Thursday and I've tried pretty much everything to try and bring this labor on but still nothing. I have a ante-natal appointment on Wednesday and I was thinking about asking to get my membranes stripped. What I was wondering if they'll do it at 39 weeks or will they wait till 40 weeks and can you actually elect to get it done? Someone please help

hey they will generally wait till like 2 or so weeks after you due date b4 they do anything, but i just have this advice, DO NOT get in the bath it relaxes you and stops labour
GOOD LUCK

Hey
I had my little girl last year and when i was at 39weeks i was feeling the same way as you. I did everything to try to make the baby come, i stopped trying and tried just to relax, she came all by herself 2 days overdue. My advice would be wait...try to be patient the baby will come in good time :)

Doctors will not let you go more than 10 days overdue. If it isn't happening now, then just be happy that everything is going well! The longer the baby is in there the better! I know its uncomfortable and tiring, but atleast you don't have to feed him or change his nappy! :)

Hey Shannon,
sory to say i know exactly how you feel. my daughter was engaged 6 weeks b4 her due date and i was very uncomfortable. but cause of the IDIOT midwife, i went more than 2 1/2 weeks over (she wrote down the 21st instead of the 12th!!!!) while i was stressing nothing short of rudely in the 'last 2 weeks' that they had it wrong, they just kept trying to give me remedies..... the one thing that they stressed, much to my discusted with being 9 months pregnant, was sex. apparently something about the semen and the cervix???? it worked with my friend twice. so you could always give that a go. otherwise, like everyone says.... the baby will come in its own time. but im glad to say, when my daughter FINALLY arrived, and they said she was definatly neally 3 weeks over, i had nothing but great pleasure getting up the 'idiot' midwife who screwed my dates up. i always say to everyone now. check your dates!!!!!!
GOODLUCK!!!!!! hope everything goes well.
